Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# KTOT5XKSM8 and was
addressed in 6.5.5 and 7.0.
Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.5 MR and 7.0 fix list
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):
Client UI
SPR# KTOT5XKSM8 - Fixed a problem where opening the local replica of your mail
file from the Workspace would not remember the current replica if the icons
were unstacked.
A related issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# RMAS6DNUEC and has
been fixed in Notes 6.5.5 and 7.0.1.
Excerpt from the Lotus Notes and Domino Release 6.5.5 and 7.0.1 MR fix lists
(available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):
Client UI
SPR# RMAS6DNUEC - Fixed a problem where unstacked replica icons opened the
wrong replica.
Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino.
If the user interface is used to make a customization, such as widening a
frame, switching views, opening or closing the Preview pane, the next time the
Inbox is opened, the last opened replica will launch, whether or not it is
chosen. The reason the problem occurs is that updates such as the user
interface customizations make use of a "sticky" frameset to hold the details.
The incorrect Inbox folder can be written to the frameset properties which are
cached in bookmark.nsf. The next time the mail file is referenced, it uses this
incorrect Inbox reference. Once this occurs, any launch of the database will
cause the Inbox to be accessed from the last opened replica.
Although the issues in both SPRs result in opening unexpected replicas, the
steps to reproduce the behavior are different, and the problems were reported
separately.
Workaround for versions prior to 6.5.5:
Stack the Workspace icons using View -> Stack Replica Icons. Stacking the icons
causes Notes to search by Replica ID for the source database. The search
returns the database replica at the "top" of the icon stack, which is usually
the last database opened. Stacked icons usually prevent the user from opening
any database replica that is not on the top of the stack unless it is
explicitly chosen.
A cumulative client hotfix (CCH) is available for Notes Client 6.5.4 that fixes
the issue reported in SPR# KTOT5XKSM8 and RMAS6DNUEC. Since hotfixes do not
receive the extensive testing that maintenance releases and fix packs do,
customers are encouraged to implement workarounds or deploy a release
containing the fix. However, if workarounds are not possible or applicable and
you still need a fix, contact IBM Technical Support to request the CCH
containing the fix for this issue. More >
